Add your first property and units

Updated June 10, 2026 · 1 min read

Properties and units are the backbone of your account. A property is the building or parcel; units are the rentable spaces inside it. A single-family home is one property with one unit.

  1. Open Properties in the sidebar and click New property.
  2. Enter the name and address. The address drives your reports and the per-state rules LeaseRooster applies later.
  3. Open the property and add its units, one per rentable space. Give each a label your tenants would recognize (1A, Unit B, Main house).

Once a unit exists you can create a lease on it, post a vacancy listing, or log a work order. If you manage a lot of units, add the property first and the units as you go. Nothing else depends on getting it all in on day one.
