Why a rent payment shows pending

If a tenant paid by bank transfer (ACH) and the invoice still shows pending, nothing is wrong. Bank payments don’t clear instantly.

An ACH payment takes a few business days to settle. During that window the payment is on its way but not yet confirmed, so LeaseRooster holds the invoice as pending until the funds actually clear. Once they settle, the invoice flips to paid and the money lands in your bank account.

A few notes:

• Card payments confirm faster than bank transfers, but bank transfers cost less.
• Weekends and bank holidays don’t count as business days, so a Friday payment can take until midweek.
• If a payment fails after it looked pending (for example, insufficient funds), the invoice goes back to unpaid and both you and the tenant are notified.

This settlement hold is normal and protects you from a payment that later bounces.
